So, what knife/knives have you carried today?Pics would be very cool, too.
For me, it was a Victorinox Farmer, a Victorinox classic, and a Kershaw Leek.
Maybe a a little overkill, but since I' m a collector..why not?:D

You call that overkill? I used too carry at least 5 blades on me:rolleyes: Now it's down to my Emerson Mini Commander, and a few day ago Swiss card (gave that one away, nasty habit, I know) and 80% of the time Böker Plus CLB Trance. Maybe from now on the Fällkniven TK4 or Fred Perrin Quatro. Haven't carried one of my Opinels and Victorinox Traveler set in months... Besides all that, I carry a Light My Fire firesteel and a Fenix P3D.

Good for you bro. I'd want more Emersons too, but they're too damn expensive here... My only complain about the Mini Com is it's not pointy enough... but then 99.99% of all recurve blades aren't; on the other hand, it can take much more abuse.

Once I was asked whether I had a light... I took a piece of tissue, laid it on the ground, lit it with my firesteel in 5 seconds and handed over...

good for you, mac. i threw away the lanyard and the metal piece as soon as i could, no need for those: the lanyard is hold together by the plastic thingie, which comes off easily; and you can stroke the firesteel with the back of your blade.
helluva fun to scare ppl in the dark with the firesteel... :D:D:D

lol, the serrations do make a different... ever wanted to sharpen them? ;)

06-18-2008, 12:10 AM
Well depending on what I do I carry:
Victorinox Fireman (when on civilian duties or camping) because I love the SAK seatbelt cutter. Great for seatbelts, leather, and ROPE !! =D
Have blunted too many blades on rope in my youth. Also easy to sharpen which is a concern for me.
Fireman has a large locking blade, and also a saw. Corkscrew of dubious importance... I guess fire drinks a lot =/.
On my belt on duty (ACP 2) I use either the one handed parachutist which features reverse serrations (on the tip side of the blade) also good for extrications etc. and my dear seatbelt cutter used this time for seatbelts.
I have on order a Gerber rescue knife because of it's oxygen tank attachment =D I'll post pictures and see how it does as soon as 1) i get it 2) i figure out how to post pictures.
Not too bad, man
06-18-2008, 10:15 AM
Not going to wow anyone around here,:D but I just got a ti lite (the cheaper zytel one) and will be EDC'ing this baby for the forseeable future. Great knife for $41.

06-18-2008, 10:51 AM
My EDC's aren't too great either. I usually carry either a Gerber Evo or a Kershaw Leek. I have a cold steel ti lite too, the 6 inch blade version. That thing is massive and hardly fits in my pocket so it usually stays at home.
Not too bad, man
06-18-2008, 11:07 AM
^^ Yeah, that six inch ti lite is massive! I'm already worried about whipping out this little four incher :o here in liberalsville, USA. :D
Kershaw is on my list, probably a Blur. :)
miro44one
06-20-2008, 07:49 AM
The Blur is a very nice knife, any variation, however for EDC I prefer a Leek, since it' s slimmer.
Anyway, today I' m carrying my brand new Böker Trance, what an awesome knife for it' s price!

I have been carrying my Spyderco Military a lot as of late. I find it to be a great EDC. Great for food prep, Utility and Defense. It has a blade of super steel S30V full flat grind for excellent slicing and cutting. Excellent handle ergo's, great grip on the G-10, with super effective jimping top and bottom with finger choil. Handle is long enough to be used as an impact weapon. No steel liners so this big 4' Blade still only weighs 4.2oz. Blade locks up super strong, where some other liner locking blades fail. fast blade deployment. Big enough to be used effectively with gloves. My only bit of complaint is the thin tip, so if you need to do any prying or hard piercing, this is where the fixed blade comes in. All together its a strong 9 out of 10 for EDC. for defense and food prep a solid 10

Thats a nice leatherman Miro44one. I have a several year old Super 200. its just stainless throughout and must be opened to get access to tools. I have been thinking about upgrading to a Charge. How do you rate its usefulness, and design to any other older leathermans you may have ,or had?

it's more that I will have a harder time explaining it...
my friends are always doing stupid stuff, and I'm always the kid that really has nothing to hide from cops and has to explain to them what happened... (the good one) so if they question me about the knife, I'd rather be able to give them good answers.
what can I do with a 4" blade that I can't with a 3"???
idk... I could give it a try an endrua and if I don't like it, I can trade it for a delica or something... or sell it for a SY.

Well, first off this is the Charge Ti, which may be pretty hard to find nowadays seeing that it is discontinued, so you' ll probably end up buying a XTi, or a TTi, that only differ from having different plier heads and, I think, different blade steels.
On this model, I really like it, I think it' s worth the money(pretty expensive)
I like that it has 2 blades, one plain edge(154CM steel), and one serrated(420HC if I' m not mistaken). All outside tools lock with liner locks. I also like the addition of the bit driver, using 8 2-sided bits, that come with it in the(very nice) nylon sheath.
What I don' t like however is the small bit driver, that I just find plain useless. The small screwdrivers pretty much only fit eyeglasses, that i don' t wear. Also it is very heavy, despite the titanium scales(but that' s how it is with multi-tools)
So overall, yeah I think it' s worth the money.
Edit: This is my first Leatherman btw.

You can't ask for more than that!
Just read this thread for the first time.
First and foremost. How did NTBM get awy with this one without any jokes being made?:D
I'm already worried about whipping out this little four incher :o here in liberalsville, USA. :D
My EDC's rotate a lot, but my four main ones are super cheapies. I have (and have had) more expensive EDCs, but I usually go back to these based on comfort and relabilty, with cost not being an issue. I sometimes EDC a fixed blade, but I'll stick with folders for now.
1. Rough Rider small stockman. I always carry a slippie, and it's usually this one. First, it's orange smooth-bone. RR's orange bone is so much nicer than Case's. Second , the blade shapes are perfect for a small slippie. The main blade is long and narrow. The spey blade is more like a skinner than a spey. It's the perfect slippie for me, and just happens to be the cheapest out there. Price paid, $7.
2. CRKT M16-12FDZ. Opens like lightening, with the push on the flipper. Bright Red Zytel scales and an AUS-8 blade. Comfortable handle. Got it from SMKW for $17 shipped when they were on sale.
3. S&W SWAT (original). I have a love/hate relationship with this knife. I want to hate it because it's a Taylor made knife, but I just can't. It's so comfortable. I've never held a folder that felt better in my hand. It's like a folding Bravo-1. It flicks open like an AO, but is rock solid with perfect liner engagement. I think I paid like $2.50 for it shipped.
4. Seki Cut Folding Katana (the VG-10 Damascus with Micarta scales version). Not really a super cheapie, I think they went for about $150 when you could still find the VG-10 versions, but since I paid like $10 for it, I'm gonna call it a cheapie. First, it's gorgeous up close. The raised patterns of the layers of steel look awesome. It's also very comfortable, and cuts like a little buzzsaw.
My most expensive folder, that i really wanted to like, was an Emerson CQC-8. After hearing how great they were, I picked one up. Huge disappointment. At the pivot, I could choose between noticable blade play or lots of friction in opening. I found the handle uncomfortable and a little too simple to garner the price.
I've got a CS Black Sable on the way. Maybe it'll lure me away from my life of cheap EDCs.
