Looks like you and I are at the bottom of the totem pole with our knives! I just ordered the CS kuk for my first "chopper". At around 20 bucks, it is a steal.

No guys. The bottom of the pole is the dude with no knives. Let the collection grow. Before you know it you'll be willing to spend more on a knife than say a camera or DVD player.
Enjoy every blade you have. Because you know the next one will be the one you really want because its better than the others you have. Until the next one and so on....................................

Couldn't agree more... My first knife (Buck Nobleman Ti, 33€) needed a lot of thinking (1.5 year ago), now look at my collection:eek::cool:

Funny how when you start liking and collecting stuff it becomes easy to justify expenditure that others will raise an eyebrow to.
I collect binoculars. It's easy (given budget availablity or lack of)to spend a thousand dollars or more on something you already have multiples of.

No. whatever knives you own, use an like is all you have to worry about. :)
steelstr45: Nice collection you have. I have the same leatherman juice you have. It goes every where I go. Nice Mora an Gi Tanto. The Gi Tanto is a great beater. They make a new one with handles instead of the cord wrap. I need one. Well I want one. :D

Nice collection steelstr45. Tac45 has a good point. Everybody starts with just 1 knife, does not matter if its a $15 machete or a $400 Busse. Just use them and enjoy them and let your collection grow. I've learned a lot about knives over my relatively few years collecting and using, but every time I order a new one im like a child on christmas Eve waiting for it to arrive :D one thing that does piss me off is when you show one of your friends your new blade and the first thing they say is how much did that cost? I just want to smack them and say you really dont know anything about knives do you:D Damn Civilians!!! Lol

Thanks, my leatherman juice is actually my least favorite of my multitools. I don't really know why. I think I was expecting more from leatherman in terms of quality to price ratio. I hate the color on the scales too. I think if it were full stainless steel, I'd like it a lot more. I usually carry around my Leatherman Wave, but I'll still carry the Juice if I don't want the weight of the Wave on me.
I saw the handled version of the GI Tanto when I was shopping for this one online. I wasn't sure which one I wanted. I decided on the para cord handled one just because I don't know if the handle would take away from the overall durability, like if it would break off during heavy use or something. I guess if it has the exact same handle shape as the cord wrapped one it doesn't really matter if it comes off. But I was worried it would be all uncomfortable or have handle securing stuff coming out underneath if I were to break the handle cover off by accident.

Thanks, I actually thought I was going overboard with all the knives I have. My friends and family think I'm nuts. But then I come to this forum and all of a sudden I'm one of the ones with the smallest collection haha.
