Hello, and welcome to the forum, Gauge!

This knife, iin my opinion, is meant to be à utility/rescue knife, considering the seat-bealt cutter at the end of the handle, and the serrated spine (I've never seen this on a folder, and don't think it's very logical). But a knife can be used for any cutting task that it's size ant toughness allows.

Personnaly, after many tests, I finaly figured that a natural stones sharpening with progressive grits was the best thing for a moderatly hard steel. Typically, as I live in Europe, I have a reconstituted #340 stone for the coarse work, and a black Coticule (a belgian stone) #4000 for finishing. Then I touch up the edge with leather if I have it neardy, or with ceramic (like the Lansky "mini" or a Fallkniven DC4). I had some problems with diamond-coated sharpening stones (coating went off too fast in my opinion), but it can be usefull on the field if you don't wan to carry the full size stones.
