These TOPS knives don't look bad at all.

Any others worth a look?
Thanks,

PS-Don't mind spending the $$$, just as long as I get something special. Or should I say tough & reliable ;)

Entrek makes a few tantos. No personal experience, but they seem well respected on the knife forums. http://www.ennis-entrekusa.com/
EMF beat me to it, but don't overlook the G.I. Tanto because of its low price http://csstoreonline.stores.yahoo.net/80ft.html. Helluva tough knife!

338 Dont know what your feelings are on the Cold Steel San Mai Tantos. I would not mind being the owner of one of them. Or may be one of their swords with a modified tanto

You will pay an arm and a leg for those CS knives, especially if not getting them on-line from some store.

Wow, not a single one of you mentioned Strider.
They are the first I think of when I hear tanto.
entrek knives are very tough i've carried one for years, and they stand behind them

The Strider had the same performance as the GI Tanto tested here. Big price difference between the two. For what they are the Cold Steel line of tantos are good value. Even the Konjos for two for $200 is a great deal. I think Busse dabbled in tantos, too.
