Being banned is a release from forum obsession and aggravating interactions with other forum idiots as it must take at least two idiots to argue about stupid crap on a forum to no conclusion. I have the blessing and salvation of at least not being a group fanboy idiot.

It was a waste of time as I can still search the forum and searching for specific information is so much more satisfying rather than reading about the "imaginary" wonders of the KA-BAR and Becker knives or some Chinese hatred due to our own USA greedy manufacturing processes. Its easier to blame the Chinese. . .

Anyway obviously I do not mean this forum.

I am heading out on my Harley for some fun this afternoon.

Depending on the Chinese made knives in question and company etc yeah you will have problems on most forums, that's a given.

MOST are complete garbage while some others are good. ;)

Most of them fall into the Flea Market garbage realm...

China made knives such as MTech are alright some models are great. also Rough Rider is on Cold Steel's level or better. Reality is that many may be made at the same factory?

I wish you could see some of the Rough Rider fixed blades I have and compare them, it not a Busse, but I don't believe it'll let you down either under common camp useage. I got a set with a cleaver and drop point hunter for $9. The steel is 440 5 mm thick!

I felt ripped off with Ka-Bar and Becker knives as they are pricey and not worth the money and I got them wholesale. Am I missing something as if I say that fact I am banned! What a joke!

I feel Busse is over priced but I'd rather spend $500 for a Busse and know I got something of value than $100 on a Becker and its inferior to a Cheaper Than Dirt Rough Use knife.

I wish my wholesaler carried Busse or Busse would sell through a distributor : (

You can buy Busses a lot cheaper than $500 if you get them directly from them. :thumb:

You just have to watch the Busse Forum over on Blade Forums to see when the next model is going to be up on their site. They usually give at least 2 weeks notice before the next models will be up.

But yeah there is a lot of garbage on the market today.

Anyway I was checking out my Coleman stove 413G and Lantern 228H 2 74 (on the bottom) yard sale deal.

It seems they are from 1974. I hope that was a good year ; )

I recently broke down and bought two MTech folders, the spear point Darrel Raplh model (DR-02BB) and another one with green and black G10 handles (MT-3277 or M-3277, don't recall offhand). I keep reading conflicting reports, with some saying absolute total crap to others saying pretty decent for the price. I always like to find out for myself, rather than take online hypers or bashers at their word. Both knives + shipping only set me back $22. Both knives have perfectly centered blades with no play. Both have decent linerlocks (particularly the DR) that will easily handle moderate spine whacks. The DR model came nice and sharp and the other one was only sharp about halfway back from the point, so I put it to my 1x30 and then a strop and got it scary sharp. The actual fit and finish on both knives is way above that of the Chinese made Kershaw Oso Sweet I also recently picked up. I haven't tested the DR for edge holding, but the other one has been used on a decent amount of cardboard and except for losing it's initial razor edge (which is common for most knives in general) it seems pretty stable.

Will they hold up? Who knows? They're destined for light edc duty anyway, so it's not like they'll be pushed to the limit or anything, but I've been rather aggressively flicking them open for the past couple weeks and neither has fallen apart, nor developed any play. So far so good. The biggest complaint I've read in reviews of them online is that the screws fall out. Duh! What factory's gonna put loctite on a $5-7 knife? I pulled all the screws on both and dabbed them in blue loctite and they're just fine.

edit: just looked and the second one is M3277.:thumb:

2nd edit: Make that Darrel Ralph, not Raplh. :D

Shit I've never even gave anyone an infraction here. Some of those mods on other forums live there 24/7, it's their life. It's sad really. Handing out infractions is the only power they have in the world. :jerkit:

I got a couple MTech knives at a Flea Market. Both were new for $10 each after price negotiation ; ) Both are sebenza copies and perform flawlessly. . . A statement like this can escalate into getting banned from a forum as the Chinese haters begin their wolf pack attacks.

I guess I don't have a forum persona?

Anyway I had a civil disagreement with the Brokeback Bushcraft moderator clan and in order for them to win I had to go.

I was banned for Passive Aggressive Commentary : )

I think I was bored with the bullshit and began to mock their actions a bit maybe, whatever, its forum silliness.

The irony is that I wouldn't have known of the forum had they not invited me from here. I guess after all I was bad for business as I believe most forums have a money making masked agenda ; )

Its getting to be amusing to me now as I didn't even need to curse rather just tell the truth to get banned from KnifeForums, BladeForums and BushcraftUSA : )

It really is funny to me ; )

I heartily agree. I have been banned perhaps +ten times, and I have enjoyed every one of them like a red badge of courage. In fact, yesterday I asked to be banned from a knife forum, and it was the right decision.

A few years ago I even asked a friend of mine (Mike Crenshaw who goes by the handle of hso on THR) to ban me there for professional reasons. I have my own company, and I felt it better to separate from policies to which I disagreed than to be accused of being attached to a crowd by implication. BTW, Mike is still my friend.

As for Harleys, I have two of them, a big one and a little one. The big one, a fully customized 2004 Dyna and a new little Sportster '48' I want to use as a delivery scooter.

I have been banned for general bad stench, but that has little to do with my comments (they smell as well because of my halitosis). You can get OK knives made in China. I have some CRKTs that were made in China, and they are good knives.

Many times I didn't even know why I was banned. I will say this, in just about every forum there are group of insiders or "golden boys." Without knowing who they are your life span in such cases is pretty short.

But in the end, what have they really taken from you? Nothing. I once did a google search using the just the key-word "forums." Yikes, I thought my computer would never stop clicking off data! You could get banned on a daily basis and still chat for the rest of your life.

Besides it's summer. One of the reasons I'm playing in the computer is that Madison has had days and days of rain. Last night we had serious lightning strikes and driving winds. My guess is that most of our participation on the computer would drop off if the sun was out and we could ride.

The whole post and chat forum scenario gets repetitive and boring for me plus I have a low threshold BS meter. I ain’t likely to become a groupie either. I like my freedom of speech and I ain’t pulling punches.

Its better here as there is the knife test reference and the quality of the posts are at a much higher level.

I have a low threshold BS meter.

So do I. I do have a problem with keeping that stuff "to myself."

For example, I wanted to see how many of my friends were here. You hang around knife forums long enough and the same faces pop up. I hit the members key and recognized some good folks. I also found some old idiots.

If left alone, I'm usually the life of the party. The operative phrase here is "left alone."

I own LOTS of MTechs (roughly 75) fixed, folders and assisted, never had a problem with any of them, but then again, they mostly lay in a drawer or in a cotton-lined display box :)

They definitely hit a home run with the hawkbill karambit, since, I've ordered 2 more, 1 for EDC and one for my son.

It's funny going back and reading the posts I made in this thread. I've learned a lot about sharpening over the past year or so. I remember being very pleased with the edges of my MTech folders, like I mentioned above, but soon realized they felt sharp because they both had tiny wire edges. Once I tried to remove the wire edges, I realized that they couldn't be refined after that point. The wire or bur would just move side to side and then snap off, leaving a dull edge. I mentioned this in another recent thread, but I'd forgotten about my initial experiences with these knives till this thread came back up. You live and you learn. :D Not saying all MTech are bad, just relating my experiences with these two particular ones.
