View Full Version : Oss cold steel knife
This may have posted, I just came across it not too long ago, the title was something like: "Cape Buffalo taken out with a Cold Steel" ...Well after that introduction, I had to see it for myself, FF to about 2:30 in the video, it's somewhat misleading, as the buffalo had been shot several times already, and it's not exactly what I was expecting to see, none the less, I'd give it 3 ***'s...:D

I never hunted of my life, but I guess you need to have a severe pair of ballocks to come close to that raging buffalo and stab it. Though a nice machete swing behind the neck would have done the job quite spectacularly, like in the final scenes of Apocalypse Now.

I have a couple CS OSS carbon V knives now I have a new confidence.
As far as I'm concerned that confirmed cape buffalo kill beats Ka-Bar's Kill Bear unconfirmed hearsay story by a country mile!
His son was very brave to attack a cape buffalo with a knife but it would be difficult to just watch your father get squashed to death I suppose.
I am still curious about the shot placement as I would think the .375 H&H would've dropped that cape buffalo like a hot potato!
Its also amazing that there was no follow up shot or not recorded anyway that buffalo got to them damn quick!
I'm not trashing the guys story, just saying....the Buffalo had already been shot at least twice, shot placement for whatever reason was probably poor, and if I was th guy OR the son, I'd have a nice blade, BUT more important, in that line of work, I'm GOING to carry a back-up handgun, as close as he was with the knife, he could've put 3 or 4 rounds of 9mm, .45,.357, or .44 MAG FMJ in the Buff's head (although I'd prefer a 9mm, with the others, the muzzle recoil would increase the time back on target, and increase the risk of hitting his father in a case like this) ...but he did a great job anyway

Agreed! Except I'd carry a rifle and my trusty Colt 45 acp ; )
Where were the backup rifles!
