Interesting. I didn't realised that the Basic 11 was longer than the NMFBM. This may explain its chopping power for the weight. It seems definitely a very well conceived knife, being lighter than other chopper, but with chopping power over the BWM. The classical full tang + scales design is tougher, tough. But that's indeed a very interesting model you brought to our attention.

The Basic 11 is shorter OAL than the NMFBM, blade length is the same at 11 1/4".
