an Old Hickory 14" butcher? http://www.knifecenter.com/kc_new/store_detail.html?s=OH714
Granted, the blades on these are sorta thin, but I'm always hearing good things about these super cheap knives. 1095 steel, full tang, etc. Let's see what Noss can do to one. I saw over at BF where one guy has one with custom scales that he apparently uses as an outdoorsy type knife and it got me to thinkin'. :D:thumb:

I have been meaning to test one of these for a long time. I will do so. I'll order one now.

Cool. Ragnar at Ragweed Forge describes the 8" version in part, "and the knife begins to feel as if it has enough weight for light chopping." It looks like these are saber ground too, at least in pics. I bought a Russell Green River 10" butcher as a cheap lightweight camp chopper, but the blade was not only paper thin (1/16"?), but also flat ground, so it didn't have enough mass or strength for even light chopping. I hope the Old Hickory will be better. :thumb:
