I'm just wondering what kind of schedule you go by for testing knives...ie...whenever you have time...etc....I'm looking forward to the Ranger RD 7 test and I'm just wondering when we can expect to see that one. I love the site BTW....good stuff:)

scooby: Welcome to the new forum.

I'm going to try an get the Ranger RD7 done in the next 2 weeks. I have a few knives that
people sent me for testing that I need to get done first.

I can only do one per week at the best.

This is what it looks like.

The cold steel Kurki machete is next. then

M9 vs Russian bayonet

then the Ranger RD 7

Noss! I can't wait to see cold steel trailhawk man! I guess that the only weakness is the handle. I do not have the strength to break my in full strike. I am impressed :)

I completed the CS Kurkri machete and the Ranger RD7 destruction tests. Without giving to much away before I publish the tests. The Ranger test was disappointing.:( The machete test however is wild stuff.:cool:

I have a feeling it chipped easily, weakening it, and it just gave way...
I got the feeling it would chip for some reason, or just be too brittle. (althought it was just a deep down feeling and I always thought my ranger was tough, although I was a little afraid of really flexing it first because it was so stiff, I did bend it about 30 degrees one time and that gave me alot of confidence... well, I'm glad I didn't push it anymore than that! and now I really don't plan to!)
but I guess we won't know until we see what happened!

lol
one of things that lead me to believe it was brittle, was the pics of the broken tip...
they were chunks taken out of it...
and at first I was kind of wondering what you did do to it (I had my doubts) but...
I guess it can be brittle steel.

Before this gets out of control. It did not fail quick like the CRK Green Beret but when I got to the tests that separate the tough/strong knives from one another there was a problem with the Ranger. The Ranger did not perform on the same level as the Scrapper 6

from what I had read and heard and was told. I was expecting it be a good contender to the scraper 6 but it was not. The test ended much earlier then I thought it would go.

The Machete however was just a big problem for me the tester it almost killed me.:D

I'm working on the machete test now. I'm going to post it first then the Ranger test.

The machete was the surprise of the night.

I should have both posted in a few days.

That CS machete took a beating. I think it should have got an animation like the Busse and Scrapyard. Maybe an animated Lynn Thompson slashing a rump roast.

I figure the Ranger failing is gonna cause some fits. I figured it would outlast the Scrapper. I know my RD-6 is thicker than the Scrapper 6 I used to have, and seems like it would be unbreakable. I guess assumptions don't mean jack in the knife world.

It still looks cool though.

On a side note. In case you haven't heard. There will be no new production Rangers from Justin. He's sold RK to Ontario, and they will now be making Ranger knives in their NY factory.

Oh well. :(

kiahs: I was going to put an animation on the CS machete like the Busse and the Scrapper. I just didn't know what to put. I'll post one on it for sure. Nice looking knives.
I just read that about Ranger selling to Ontario.

I just started working on the Ranger test. I should have it online in a few days.

thanks noss!
I have the feeling it chipped on the thin metal maybe?
can't wait to see the test.

the scrapper 6 and rd6 should both be around .250.
I think satin blades look thicker.
:D
