Noss. A few quick questions if you don't mind. Is there a section in the FAQs about member status?
You know, like mine says "Junior Member". Is this a trial membership thing? Does this mean I'm a newbie or does the status change in time?
Just curious. Thanks.
amen74: Your status should change in time the more posts you make. There are still some things I'm unsure about. I'll look into it for you. All registers members have the same settings
and privileges.

Amen. You can change the Junior member bit in your profile. You can type in anything. Master of the Universe if you wish.:D
Tac is correct you can. I missed that. Go to user cp and click on edit details and create a custom title.
Thanks Tac45 :)

Thanks.:)
No problem. Don't worry you won't screw anything up. If you have some problem just ask.:)

I really like the gray color scheme of this new site. It is very easy on the eyes. Which is a big plus for me.
Some other sites have a solid white background that burns your eyes. Anyway, just wanted to mention that.
The color scheme is perfect, I hope it stays. I would be hanging out a lot due to this.
I know what you mean. Some are just to bright. Especially when your up late at night.
This style is staying.
Well, its about time you got away from that free crappy forum stuff. Its good to see that you stepped up to the bat and got serious about having a "real" forum.
The home page columns are out of alignment. The last post and replies column are smashed together.
I have been running a VB site for about 14 months now. If you need some input or suggestions I am offering you assistance. Instead of looking through vbulletin.org for the best mods, just ask and I will post the ones I am using. It could save you a lot of time.

Hey Noss. This new forum looks pretty awesome! I really like the new colors of the website too.
Man, love your site, and the way you test those knives for us. :D
And thanks for all the hardwork for the new forum
kev: Welcome to the new forum.
I know. Vbulletin is great compared to the free stuff. I wish I would have set up V board when I started.
Thanks for offering your assistance. Thanks for letting me know there was a problem with my forum. It may have gone unnoticed by me for a while.
I didn't have the Forum structure set up correctly. So it was screwing up the main page.
Gman1128: Welcome. I'm glad you like it.
SOG: Welcome aboard. Your welcome for all. :)

Glad the site is starting up well.

Hi ya shooter welcome. The videos sure are an eye opener. I'm amazed at how strong some knives are. Some folks get the wrong idea and think its just about breaking them. It's great too see how far some of these blades go before they give up. The tests sure made me look at my Buck Nighthawks and Gerber LMF in a different light.
I'm a fan of Kabars. Sure the USMC bent early but again I was amazed how much it did take. The test didn't put me off the Kabar. It made me repect it even more.

This place feels like home. It has all the things that I like. When I was a kid, I used to "Build, break and burn". I just started getting into the knife community. I have always had knives and used them. My favorites are cheap knives that do the job. I have boxes of Chinese folders and Moras. I just got 3 Beckers just because... They were not cheap but I like short, sharp and beefy. They qualified. I do my own testing of ammo performance. I limit my tests to the 500 S&W abd 50 Beowulf. This is my first post here.

I'd say this kind of testing is quite important to alot of people who like knives that get the job done.

Hey Paul!
Welcome to the forum Old Bean/chap/sock/shoe/buddy!
I've seen your name around but I dont hang around KF Brkt.... I rather KF FK (man that was weird)
Or the hiking/camping forums...
What shall we do with you then? You're not one of those "BAN KNIVES!" people... you must be a bloodlusting murderer (aaargh)
Ok seriously, I'm Canadian - we have a right to poke fun at the motherland...
Love your sig line, and hope you enjoy yourself here! there are a couple posts that you may feel are pertinent to you:
one is in the BS forum about England banning knives (it would be nice to have your take on it)
one is in General knife talk, started out about the FK Frey, but now we started talking about the BRKT steels - what do you think of them etc.
Cheers!

Hey, I am psyched to be here. I check out all of Noss' tests and think they are really helpful in making decisions about knife choices.
I just don't understand all the flack he has received. He is not claiming anything beyond what is seen.
I have been a member on Bladeforums for 10 years this September. To say I love knives is an understatement.
Thanks

Hello All,
Just joined this forum after watching Noss's tests, many times over and can say that after 21+ years of active military service, I fully support the tests carried out by Noss and KNOW from numerous personal experiences that as much as you would like a knife to only cut, it will get used for other things too because sometimes that is the only tool you have.
I see people in forums saying that a knife is not a pry bar and should only be used for cutting, and so forth - I can say that I never seen a soldier of any kind carry a pry bar in any of the global battle zones, but I have seen plenty carrying knives of some sort.
I also wonder how many soldiers have been injured or killed because their knife could not be used as a sharp pry bar or ammo can opener because it was too fragile and broke at a critical moment. Should soldiers be carrying a selection of knives to cover all their needs, of course not, because after you add his personal weapon, magazines, ammo (5.56mm), grenades, night-vision eqpt, batteries, ammo for the GPMG (7.62mm), his share of the mortar rounds, personal kit, food, water (lots of this), etc, etc, the last thing he needs is a heavy knife collection. Wouldn't one good knife be better? one that could take 3lb hammer blows, split wood, open ammo cans, etc. which kinda sound like Noss's tests.
Noss may not be serving in the military but he is serving the men and women who are by providing them vital information to make informed decisions on which knife to buy, as opposed to those who have profited by selling sub-standard fragile knives to our military. Shame on you!
And just in case, I have never met Noss, I don't him him beyond the mask, which is great BTW, and am now based in Hong Kong.
Keep up the great work! and great to meet all the members on line in due course.
Cheers everyone!
