Many have been calling for a thinner Busse so this is it. I'm going to do some additional testing with it before hand so it may be a little while before I get to the D-test. But not to long.

ooooh!
very nice!
i would think it would lose some strength and possibly break on the side tang impacts?
idk... I see it getting a 6. (I'm just about always wrong though)
I can't wait!

EMF: Yeah it should be interesting. About the side tang impacts. The RTAK II is about the same thickness an I could not break it like this. However the blade had already failed the hammer impacts on the spine. We will see what happens here.

My guess is the tip will pass the penetration test but may be fail in the vise. I think it will take the body weight test and tang impacts, and will fail some point during the metal shearing test. I bet it will out chop Scraper 6, A1 and equal or better the RD7. Could guess a 6 overall

Gman1128

I'm not sure what to expect, but I also think it will get a 6. However if it does break early I think it will be in the second position of the body weight test.

I played with one of the skinny's and I did not like that the knife that thin has forward balance for chopping. Also I felt that I will not be confident in such a skinny blade. I hope that Noss will prove me wrong though :)

Man talk about self sacrifice for the good of knowing the superior steels :thumb:

PS-I will sling you a few $ in the next few weeks. It wont be much but I can drop a little at a time over time.

Will we see the Noss "dagger rating" on the box of certain brands. It wouldn't surprise me at all, this is how things get started!

Now, when you say "received", what do you mean exactly, Noss? By "receive" do you mean donated?...or purchased? Don't tell me you spent money on yet another Busse, and this one, you don't intend to keep or, even better, give as a gift to your loyal cameraman? What's the deal, Noss, inquiring minds (well, mind) wants to know.

I got to handle g19g26 skinny ash today.
They are nice blades, I like it more then my fat ash.

Noss
08-02-2008, 11:43 PM
Yeah it's a good size. I like wide blades and the Ash fits the bill. It has some weight but it is not to heavy. It's still on the short side for me. I don't use any of my knives of this blade length much. I just always prefer a full blow chopper in the field. This is just my opinion and preference of course.

It's going to be a little while before I get to the D-test phase. I ave some extra tests I plan to do first. If all goes well this will be the most tested Busse I have done yet.

busse ash 1 in the ordinary use?

Hi guys,

I've almost completed some tests against my own Skinny ASH-1 for ordinary use. And not only ordinary use, but I've also pushed its limits a little bit to see how it behaves. This week I intend to post my tests and story. It took me a long time :thumb:

PS: hope you're not upset if I put my tests on the forum before you, Noss! Anyway, my tests are personal and different.

Best Regards!

I'm very close to buying one myself.

I believe the only way this knife will fail is on the steel cut, second time around, maybe?
I can't see it snapping under the first weight test, I'll put my left nut on that  . And I would be shocked if it failed on the second weight test as well. Nah it's a bow, she'll be right mate  .

I'm thinking at least 6 daggers for this skinny brute!

I updated the topic here: http://www.knifetest.com/forum/showthread.php?t=455&page=5 by adding more tests. Not very good news regarding the lateral strength (I tested only the tip). Waiting to see how it will perform in the body weight test under Noss's weight :D

Looking forward to the evaluation and D test, Noss. It will be illuminating to find out how a thinner piece of INFI holds up in comparison with the prybars.

I won't be doing the edge retention testing with the ASH-1 :( There were some problems, so until I work them out this will have to wait until later using another Busse knife.

Anyways,To speed this up since I have had this knife sitting for a while. I'll still be doing the field test if I can get away to do it. If not , Then just the D-test on the ASH-1. This is what most want to see anyways.
