Nice sharp. What do you use the push dagger for in the woods ?

I actually don't carry it any more, but it was used as a kitchen knife. :D
It has two nice chisel grinds that are good for right or left hand use. 440c blade with a wicked sharp edge. :D
Completely defeats the purpose of a double edge dagger, I know.

It took me twenty years before I realized that I needed a multi tool. Basically because ya just couldn't defend yourself with one. That was until I heard about the dude that had to cut his arm off with one...If its good enough for that then what do I have to complain about!
I use to carry a SAK before I bought my first Leatherman. I broke my SAK and that was what got me to buy the Leatherman.

lol
I just bought an SAK too, but I figure that i can do only more finesse things with it, so I was looking at a few leathermans and the victornox swisstool.
I went with the leatherman, but I here the swisstool is great too... I just kinda went with my instinct.
(I looked at the swisstool alot more than the leatherman and was almost set on one)
I might get a cheaper leatherman for my dad someday too.
what leatherman do you have noss?
one of the juice's isn't it?
didn't you say you broke a gerber multitool noss??

I copied this across from the old forum. Hey I'm lazy! I have two Swiss Tools and about half a dozen Leathermans. I love the blade exchange feature on the Surge. You can fit non Leatherman blades that use the Bosch quick change system. Great as it gives you the option of longer saw blades. They wobble slightly as they are thinner than the Leatherman but work well.
Obviously I like the Leathermans. However at work I always carried the Swiss Tool. Many people at work use the Leatherman. But over the years I have seen quite a few Super Tool pliers break. A friend who worked in another government organisation was issued the original Leatherman (later called PST). They gave up on using them as they had a high breakage rate. I havn't heard of similar breakage rates with the Victorinox. The Victorinox in black was issued to the Australian Army. I don't know whether or not they did any tests or just got a good price deal.
I'm not wanting to sound negative on Leathermans. In civilian life I always have a black Charge Ti with me. It works well for the tasks I need to do. Although I admit the small screw driver breaks very easy. I found that out by using it to poke something out that was stuck.
A shoot out of different multitools sounds like a cool idea, expensive but cool.
EMF: I have 2 leathermans and a Gerber. The leatherman I carry is my Juice CS4
I have an old leaherman one of the first they came out with.
Tac45: I broke the pliers on my Gerber.
EMF: I'll post a photo of the Gerber I broke if I can find it ?
I found it. I'll post a photo.
Here is a photo of my broken Gerber multi tool. I was trying to bend A stiff piece of wire
and the pliers broke.

Sucks that your gerber broke like that noss. I don't own any good multi tools, just a cheap off brand one that works fine for me. I really like the Leatherman Wave, I may get that one soon.

I've heard of charges breaking before, so I went a little bigger (and hopefully more sturdy) and got the surge.
I was going to get the swisstool, but decided on the surge because of all the options.
:D
thanks for the pic noss.
man...
that is a weird break.

The only thing I currently own now is the Leatherman Skeletool CX. I love that multi-tool! It has everything I really would ever need except for a can opener, but I can live without that. I like how the knife is really easy to flip out with the thumb. It's just as much of a folding knife as it is a multi-tool. The screwdriver really comes in handy, but one of the reasons why I chose this light multi-tool is because I play guitar and often need a wire cutter to clip the long end of the strings after winding them up. The bottle opener also rocks! It's the single most used aspect of my Skeletool!

Just moments ago I broke another small screw driver bit on my Charge Ti. The same small bit that I broke on it before, the same as comes with the Surge. I was just adjusting a scale screw on my CS Recon 1. The small screw driver flat blade end chipped out. Now it is half a flat blade. I took the smallest hex driver from the leatherman bit kit to have another go. Now the hex bit is a 'circle' bit. The hex edges smoothed out. So much for the S2 tool bits. I thought tool bits damaged the screw not the other way around. My made in China 100 tool bits for 20 bucks have damged more screws that the other way around. I'm mighty cheesed! I just started to look at the forum while tightening a screw. I would not have thought the screw would have won. I know it is a tinny little bit....but I am going to send it off to leatherman here in Australia. It is the second one I have broken. The first well I was poking it and it may be argued that it isn't within the terms of normal use. But these two bits most definately come under that definition. The small screw driver that fits in the cork screw of the Swiss Army Knife has never had this happen. I have several of that little screw driver on various SAK's and all are perfect. For now I'm replacing my EDC Leatherman with the Victorinox. So far I havn't seen one of those fail. I'm cheesed with Leatherman right this minute so this is a bit of a rant. I have 2 Waves, 1 x PST 11, 1 x Charge Ti, 1 x Surge, 1 x Side clip, 2 x Micro Tools and one other I can't remember in a kit in the car. So I could argue that I have been a good customer.

I'm thinking of getting a couple of the Vics, though my Charge has been working just fine. Nothing seems to be wrong with the multitool. One time I even accidentally tried to cut a drill bit with the cutters with no ill effect. I obviously didn't cut the drill bit. :D
I really like the Swisstool and the Spirit gonna get those sometime in the future.

I'm sounding a little harsh on the Leathermans. I do like their features and apart from the two bits I've broken and the one that stripped I've not had a problem. I think they are fine for doing what they are meant to do. Yes I have seen a few sets fo broken pliers at work as a result of abnormal use but I wouldn't stop someone from buying one. Apparently a while ago Leatherman addressed the issue and has made the pliers stronger. My only real concern is with the quality of the bits. The small bits seem to be too weak to take any reasonable force. After all I was only tightening a screw which holds the scales onto a folder.

I bought a SwissTool RS because I kept reading about how much higher quality they were compared to Leathermans. When I got it though, I was kind of disappointed. So much so that I ordered a Leatherman Wave a week later.
I've been carrying around the Wave ever since, and love not having to struggle with little nail nicks every time I need to open a tool on it. I also love the one handed blade opening.
I still like my SwissTool, but I don't really use it that much. I've beat on my Wave a lot since I got it, and it has held up pretty well so far.
