Thanks.
I made the Mini sheath while I had a couple of Heavy's axes. It seemed like the perfect size to carry, but the sheathes Gransfors (and Wetterlings) includes are horrible. I decided it would be real handy under the arm and drew up a sheath for it. The paracord is worn like a mercharness. There's no pulling to release. A flick of the thumb release puts the axe in hand, making it faster and more secure than a leather belt sheath. I need to get around to making one for my Fiskars.

interesting system.. tbh i've never thought of carryign my axe anywhere than on/in my pack... but I suppose under arm would make a really cool detective-like appearance...
Like this but substitute guns for axes

Wow ! you made those. Good job. I like the axe sheath also. Where do you get all the supplies from to make them ?

Kydex is from Interstate Plastics.
Eyelets are from an Ebay store, I forget the name. I use a manual set and they usually deform a little. I think I need to get some shorter ones or try a different brand.
Chicago screws from Mc2 Binding
(You can get everything at once from knifekits or TKS for about the same price.)
I heat in my oven (I know that's overkill but it's quick).
My press is a couple of 2x4s with surplus military sleeping pad pieces duct taped to them. I press the non-hinged end with one of those ratcheting bar clamps.
Cutting is done with tin-snips to rough shape. Most people use a jigsaw. I've used my jigsaw, scrollsaw, hacksaw, ect. I prefer the snips.
Final shaping is done on a belt sander. I usually just use the HF 1x30 with a 120 belt.
Final fitting is done with a cheap heat gun set on low.
I don't like kydex belt loops, preferring paracord, but if I'm adding one to a sheath, I use a piece of scrap micarta to form it.
Thanks for the info. :thumb:
