This is a short day hike I went on just to get away for a while. A good day outside sure can clear your head. I brought the Chopweiler with me to do a little chopping, batoning, and some fuzzing. Enjoy the trip.

Thanks guys, Some say its Gods country up here. Would not doubt them. There are so many streams and little lakes, its just beautiful. Glade you feel the same.
Nice looking woods. I wish my stomping grounds looked as nice. The finish looks like it has held up well on the swamp rat.

Thanks Noss. This was about a 40 min drive from home. Several miles thru town, then 30 miles on country highway. Not bad, but gas was $4.17 couple weeks ago. Has gone down to $3.90 today. Shame to think how cheap it was several years ago. Back then we thought it was pricy sometimes. Tell ya I have not been on any long trips this year.
Anyways I am pretty lucky to have such nice woods near by. Almost everyone had this 40-60 years ago. Shame how much things have changed. Im only 28 and It scares me to think what it is going to be like when im 50-60 years old.
Hear is a Pic of the Chopweiler I just took.

Previous Photo's are of 2nd use. It has since seen only a couple hard use days. The finish is not that tough. Ive seen weaker but I have used many others that are much stronger. Guess it adds character!!!
I was doing some batoning couple weeks back with it at night by the fire, Hit the ground about half dozen times and saw the next day after some close look that the edge on the belly took some slight damadge. Looked like shiny spots under the light. dont know if you would call it chips or scratches or what. felt like sharp spots when you ran your nail over it. : fortunately they came right out with just a little sharpening. I have to say i was batoning the hell out of it and it hit the ground pretty hard when it came thru the logs a couple times. Since then it has took no more damage and it has hit the dirt on several more occasions. I have to say it holds an edge pretty darn good, and it sharpens back up without much trouble.
This knife cuts and creates fuzzies really well, especially for the heavy duty edge. It is balanced wonderfully. Even better that the excellently balanced RAT-7 which lacks blade weight. And I appreciate the heavy duty tip. Think It would drive thru steel without any damadge.
Another aspect of this knife I love is how rigid it is. When doing prying and splitting thru heavy nots in wood, the blade barely flexes. Much more stout than the .1875 thick RAT. But that is to be expected. Ill keep you updated on future use and how it holds up. Thanks for lookin.

I hear that swamprats hold a really nice edge.
You might have had some dents or rolls in the blade, I guess it could've been tiny chips though since they do have a pretty hard edge and all.
Hope to hear some more reviews on it in the future. :D

Sharp you got to get some close up shots of your Ratweiler, bet it looks awesome. And a little battle scaring would be fine, :D
Just picked up an Edge Pro Apex. . . Wow this thing is sweet. Put an edge on my SRK that would dazzle you. Then hit up the Chopweiler, took the edge back a bit and down to about 20-21 degrees. Fantastic !!!
