Man that is pretty hot...

Not too sure if I like the framelock on it though....on the last picture it looks as though it reaches to halfway into the blade. How much blade play does it have? could you do a couple of whacks with it?

(i meant spine whacking of course!)

Also I like the choil on this tidy looking folder!

OK, firstly. If anyone tells you that the SnG is too small. And the SMF is better, I'd question that. But only for the type of work I put my knives through. Skinning, gutting & boning-out game.
I have fairly big hands, & this SnG fits perfect in-palm, whilst performing the "skinning" position. Used 90% of the time by hunters.
The SMF, IMO wouldn't be as good in-hand, for this sort of work. Still sweet, just not as good from what I can see & feel on my SnG.

The reason I'm voicing my opinion here is. I wrestled with the SnG Vs SMF for months. And not being able to try before I buy, can make it hard. So I thought I would suggest what I think would work better in the field(boning, gutting & skinning game).
So if any here have thought, SnG or SMF? And you don't have access to play before buying. And you work your knives like I do. I would checkout these pic's below, & see just how well in sits & fits in-hand.

Man, I know I said it once before. But this SnG is just so BALANCED & LIGHT. Should of bought one years ago!

Index finger positions perfect on the SnG jimping. It doesn't get any better IMO.

The frame-lock is super strong. I have already checked that out, it doesn't move in ANY way. Nothing!

So, cool! Grats on the score bro!

Field test next week. If I shoot something that is

I saw that on BF. It made me chuckle :thumb:

By the way, that frame-lock system is titanium. Feels real strong & secure.

On behalf of Pigs I resent that!

Pigs do not sweat, so they wallow in mud to cool their bodies. The mud also protects a pig from insect bites and from sunburn. Because they roll in mud, pigs often look mucky and people think that they are dirty animals. But pigs are clean animals! They will have a place which they use as a toilet which is well away from the places where they eat or drink.

They only have an unclean connotation from the bible's interpretation of "clean/unclean animals"...

I look forward to you review. Another Bambi family member will fall.:D

Hopefully.

I was going to test the S6 next, but that's changed now :D .
Next up will be the SnG, 710 & Dragonfly. With the SnG & 710 going head to head on a skin/bone-out. And no doubt the MFS will tag along & pickup any slack, if needed ;)

I was going to also field test my Mini Manix. But I have decided I will give my dad some new blades. The RAT RC-4 being the other.

From what I can feel now. The SnG, IMO, has far better G10 than the 710. I mean, the 710/G10 doesn't provide very good grip compared to the SnG, or the Spyderco Manix for that fact.
Many here, I'm sure have played with or owned a Manix at one time or another. The SnG has the same very positive G10 feel.

There is something about those Strider handles. The rear wedge shape handle just works extremely well in my hand. It's the same deal on my MFS. Big thumbs up :thumb:

I did also find, the 710 doesn't sit/fit(index finger control & in-palm comfort) nearly as well in the "skinning" position. It's not bad, don't get me wrong. The SnG & Manix blade/handle design is a far better feel/design for my hand & needs.

Out of the 3. I much prefer the SnG. Both other knives are excellent. But IMO the Strider SnG is in another league. Which no doubt I will prove in the field. But saying that, there is a price difference to go along with that.

PS-Those big-ass Strider jimpings on the blade/handle just work so well, especially with bloody hands!

I always like the look of Striders. But for some reason their handles never really appealed to me.

Hope you have some fun with the little bugger.

Beautiful knife, man. The closest to a Strider I've owned was a Buck/Strider tanto folder with the 4" blade. And even that was a sturdy knife. I am envious! Thanks for sharing.

Thanks guys. Yeah this SnG is one serious folder man! I've hit it on the spine(as seen in the Buck Strider folder video on Youtube. That Buck Strider liner failed  ). No failure in any way on the SnG. It locks up tight & secure. Zero blade play in any direction. In one word, SUPERB.
But this SnG is a completely different beast than most other folders getting around. Not only has it a premium titanium frame-lock(with Hinderer). But it also has a thick one piece G10 slab. Take a look at the G10 on the pic. All one-piece design(slab & handle spine).
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b80/Tez308/StriderSnG-4.jpg
So Ti one side & G10 the other. And to top it off, a cracking piece of S30V steel. Sure it ain't INFI, but it will no doubt do some serious work, without ever an issue.

Lets face it. When the work gets real hard(stabbing, prying etc), it's hard to beat a fixed-blade. But saying that, folders do have there place in hard work. Pick & choose the knife to the job & your needs/technique I say.

I haven't had the chance to test it boning-out a deer yet. But I can get a pretty good idea on how a knife with handle/work in general, with just goofing around with it at home.
So if you're in the need of a new folder. Camping, hunting or EDC, I would give the Strider SnG some serious thought. Sure it's a little more $$$ than most other folders getting around. But IMO you're getting a whole lot of knife for your hard-earned$$$. And these SnG's just look & feel soooo sweet, I cant stop handling/eye-balling it.

Yup I'm sold. These Strider frame-lock folders have me buy the short & curly's ;) . I'll be buying more!

ha ha ha I know actually what you mean SS. I cannot stop eye-balling it myself ;)

Yeah it does. Even when I open up the sheath, the SnG is not buried in too deep. This sheath allows quick access if needed. And to top it off. It has loop for the pocket-clip(inside) to secure it that much more.

I should change this post to. Dog with 3 dicks. As I've just bought another knife. I said I would lay off new blades for at least a month or so. My wallet is feeling the pinch. But it happened again ;)

Busse .27" Game Warden coming my way  . Always wanted a Busse, & to top it off, it's FAT :D

Luckily I ordered & paid for this a while back. The Aussie $$$ is farked ATM  . So here she is, with some comparison pic's next to the SnG.
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b80/Tez308/SMF-7.jpg

I thought this knife was going to be too big in the index-finger position. I was wrong, it's sweet, & it's big  .
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b80/Tez308/SMF-4.jpg
The SMF, as the SnG, has two point where one can perform these cuts. The SMF is more comfortable than the SnG in this posy.
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b80/Tez308/SMF-10.jpg
This position also works well.
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b80/Tez308/SMF-11.jpg

http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b80/Tez308/SMF-9.jpg

http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b80/Tez308/SMF-8.jpg

http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b80/Tez308/SMF-6.jpg

http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b80/Tez308/SMF-5.jpg

This SMF is a tank, no doubt about it. But I have heard these newer(latest Gen's) Strider folders where better than previous Generations??? But don't hold me to that, just what I've heard. All I know is, both my SnG & SMF have superb fit & finish. And both show signs of being hand finished to a certain degree, which I prefer. IMO it gives a knife character, which does make every Strider folder all that more personal.
I haven't seen another the same. Sure there must be, but, Strider seem to chop & change a few little items as they go along. Which is something I nearly like, as having the same sort of design folder in different models in very boring.
My SnG & SMF are the EXACTLY the same model type, but they show differences. Meaning. The SnG has two lazered Strider logo's, one on each side. One side shows the Strider knife, the other, the Strider name. Where my SMF has the stamping instead of the lazered. Which has a much more detailed knife pictured, with USA stamped underneath. The other side has "Strider" stamped on it. It would have to be the neatest Strider stamp I have come across. Both are superb!
I much prefer the SMF logo's, very cool personalized feature IMO. But that's me, I like that sort of thing ;).
My SMF has stone-wash/worn look blade-stop/thumb studs. Where my SnG has the blued/blackened look. Again, I prefer the SMF look here.
It also seems I might of got lucky with the stone-wash coating on this SMF's blade & blade-stop, as it does seem to be different to my SnG. It cannot really be seem from these pic's, but I can tell you that this SMF has a much more distinct look. It stone-wash with that slightly worn look. Very cool. And yes it a NIB Strider!
I have heard that some military "extra tough" coating was getting around. I believe I was lucky enough to score one?, but like I said. That's Strider. I've seen it before, & I no doubt will see it again.
A production knife with many elements of being a semi custom in look & feel. And as you all can tell, I'm a Strider fan. I don't get into the politics of all the BS that gets around. If I like a knife, I buy it. It's that simple. I could not give a farking rats ass about what some people think or say. But I do know, Mick is very helpful. I have spoken to him a few times, all of which has been pleasant & very helpful. I like the bloke!
This is not aimed at ANY here on this forum. There are other forums out there that love to bag Mick & his product. But that's a subject I could not be bothered with. It's BS.
So I say, if you like the knife after handling one or two, buy it. If not, don't. It's cut & dry & very simple :thumb:

I will also say. Striders have there place as being a great design in a heavy duty folder. Look into them men, well worth the $$$ IMHO.

I think I have a near perfect system. Striders, Scrap Yards, Busse & a Swamp Rat. But that's me I guess :thumb:

The 'all round' jimping on these Striders is sooooooo sweet & well thought out it can only be really appreciated under various hand positions. Which is often the case with a bigarse Deer on the deck.

http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b80/Tez308/SMFSambar-3.jpg

Like I have said before, I think folders have there place. When one wants lightness, toughness & something that folds up in a neat, safe little/big package these Strider folders are great IMO. The combo of the finely cut G10 & Ti offer amazing purchase. And there is the S30v which just does not rust, mark with blood, guts or gore & it's HOLDS an edge. Even when not cleaned for days on end :thumb:
There are 2 knives I would never sell, my SMF & my Scrapper 6 :D . And the truth be told, I cannot see my Busse FAT GW or Skinny ASH being tested anytime soon.
