Picked up and edge pro apex about a week ago. got sick of not being able to put a proper edge on some of my higher end knives. The sharpmaker is good but can not reprofile and i wanted to and needed to on a couple of my knives.

When it arrived i wondered which knife i should sharpen first. I did not want to start on a real good knife, so i eyed up my SRK that has a fair edge on it. Nothing fantastic thats for sure. i decided to take the edge back and thin in to about 19-20 degrees. This metal is not that hard and with the 220 stone it took just a little time. I could not be happier with the results. the edge came out wonderful and it is sharper that it has ever been. easily cuts heavy tow strap 1 1/2 with a 6500 lbs tow rating. and slices paper like butter. I now have a big grin on my face and lots of new uses for this blade.

I have since reprofiled and redone many of my knives. I could not be happier with this kit and highly recommend it to anyone wanting to get the most out of their knives. A+++

Cool. I would like to try one out at some point. I bought a Tormek copy and it does a wonderful job at sharpening my blades. So I will stick with it for now.

I definitely want to pick up and Edge Pro to go along with the Sharpmaker. Seems like a perfect combo.

Noss' contraption looks interesting too. Actually, that one looks great for the price. Central China Machinery.:D I have a HF close too. Hmm...

Noss nice piece of machinery. I got sick of slaving at the bench stones, and im not that great at it either. :o The sharpmaker is great for touch ups and smaller knifes.

Not too bad, man you will be happy if you do. Pretty easy to use and awesome results. And it looks like touch ups should be easier too.

the wheels i use do a good job too and for around $55. you can get a 10" set of wheels. culpeper has a set and he likes them. he said it didnt take long to learn how to use them. if anyone wants to see what kind of job they do i'll sharpen a knife for free if you pay shipping and insurance both ways. that thing looks like it would be hard to sharpen a knife with a large wide belly but i never seen one in operation.

Yeah, the edge pro looks pretty idiot proof, which is certainly what I need.:D

Richard J: Do the paper wheels produce a convex edge? Forgive me if this is a stupid question.:o
