As I promised before I would show some pics my sterile RW with some bizarre micarta handles.
This was the knife new and completely clean.

Just so you guys know, I have been extensively using this Rat and it doesn't look so pretty anymore. :D
There is one of them "water fall" type fadings on the blade. Start of grind has a lot of coating loss. Hey, it's happy, I'm happy, we're all happy. :D
Oh and I also did happen to get a really nice Muskrat Man Puukko.

Super nice blade. I love those handles on it. Nice Puukko also. Hell seeing these photos makes me want to go camping now. :D

Nice RAT Sharp. I love these things. Thanks for the great pic's. You need to use it on an extended trip. Then you will be in true love. Lol. Reprofiled my Chopweiler not to crazy and boy did it help out. Does everything better. Its like you are using a different knife. And edge holding is still very impressive. This knife is a little on the heavy side but if its only one blade you can carry I would feel safe and secure with this baby. :D

Thanks SS.
I have used the RW quite extensively. If look carefully at my collection pic, my ratweiler has a pretty good amount of coating loss. I batoned so much with it. :D :D :D
I love my Version of the RW, especially, because it's got the cool micarta and it's sterile, not too mention it's even got a penetrator tip on it.
I agree with the last bit, but I don't think the RW is that heavy. Chopping with the FFBM was fun to begin with, but it still isn't a chore to carry. Though I am changing my set up. Gonna let the FFFBM and maybe RMD take a little break and bring in the RW and my MM. That my Sawvivor and Leatherman. Be a little bit more practical. Might in awhile stick the DMCG or RMD in he set up, but probably not.

Very nice Sharp. Your right the Chopweiler/Ratweiler is not like carrying a 3lb mallet on your side. Noss dont get any ideas. I was kind of comparing it to some of my less built knives, Rat 7 and Trail Master. The Chopweiler weighs more than the Trail Master even though it is thicker and has a longer blade. The tang is just so much more robust on the Chopweiler and the blade on the chopweiler is a little wider from spine to edge.
In the past when i have gone out and hit up the woods backpacking or hiking i have always carried my fixed blade on my side the entire time. This has gotten enoying at times and i have since been carrying it in my pack. Once i get to my camp site I will take it out and wear it at my side. But for long treks thru rough country that extra weight on the side, some times up to 2lbs has a tendency to get in the way.
But at the same time i always have a multi tool and a sturdy folder on my side of 3 1/2 " or more.

I think the RW an pukko is a great combo.
:D
a ratmandu is more of a do it all knife than a pukko so it'd be great if it was your only knife or something, but it isn't needed much with the RW an pukko imo.
weight is one reason I really LOVE my dfle.
its about a pound and is lot more knife than other blades that weight... its a shame I never "carry" it.

SS996,
No kidding on the weight issue. Imagine carrying an FFBM along with your pack. Definitely gonna get a little sore on the way. :D
EMF,
Yea, I really like the Combo. It would be nice to get one of the Bushcraft knife but I personally like the puukko.
I'm still kinda lusting for a DFLE, doubt I'll ever get one though. :(
GM1128,
When you do get your Chopweiler, BEAT THE CRAP OUT OF IT!!! :D
But seriously, it's a great all round large fix blade, you'll be extremely impressed.
