Ordered an Swedish Firesteel the other day. Army model with red handle. Looks like a winner. Ill let you know when it arrives of how it functions and its effectiveness.

Man.. I didn't know the Army models came with colors.
What the instructions on that site don't tell you first is to scrape off the black coating. I was like "wtf?!!" when I first tried it.

Btw. I think the Red handle is new. Looks real sweet. Going to replace the striker with a saw blade.

actually, the striker isn't that bad, I use the flat side of it instead of the little teeth.

I usely get the 3-pak from Sportsman's guide for about $15. Those are the ones I include with my sheaths. Seem to work rather well.
