I would really like to see the Buck 119 Special tested by you! It is a very popular survivalist knife among outdoors men, and is also very affordable for what you pay for. A review of this would be great!

I think that it would perform similar to the Buck nighthawk, same steel and heat treat, just different size and shape. The handle on the 119 may hold up better though.

Mike: Welcome to the new forum. I was over at Wal-Mart today looking at one. Almost bought it. I'll see about getting one for a test. It is a very popular knife and would make a great test.

I'm thinking about getting one myself, hence the reason for suggesting a test of it, lol. I'm looking for a straight edged blade because it's much easier to sharpen than a knife with a serrated edge. On top of it, the 119 is really great looking!

I was just in awe of that Nighthawk test. That blade took more than I thought it could.

Not too bad, man

I agree, the Nighthawk blew me away.

Since the 119 is similar in size to the Nighthawk, maybe the Cabela's 120 (http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?_DARGS=/cabelas/en/common/catalog/item-link.jsp_A&_DAV=MainCatcat20075-cat280005-cat20889&id=0006503515086a&navCount=1&podId=0006503515086&parentId=cat20889&masterpathid=&navAction=push&catalogCode=XJ&rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat20889&hasJS=true) would be a better candidate?

In my opinion, the 119 can't take as much as the nighthhawk, because of the shape of the tang and it's link with the blade. I may be wrong, but i think they are square angles, and it's allways a week point where a crack easily begins. But it still a very popular knife, relatively unexpansive, and it really worth a test.

Don't hesitate to pick one up.:) You can't go wrong with a 119, IMO. Outstanding value. Plus, it's obviously cool looking:D, and it has a perfect heft and feel to it.

I just bought one the other day. I saw it in walmart and it was cheap and I just couldn't help myself :D

Its a great knife and I love it already. Awesome looking and razor sharp out of the box. However it is rather thin with a very thin tip and hollow grind and I don't know if it is full tang so I'm not sure if it would do so well, but hey, theres only 1 way to find out!!
