hey noss, i saw a new schrade knife today in my smoky mountain knife works catalog and was wondering if you might be able to do a test on it. it is the "new" schrade extreme survival knife. it is a fixed blade with a full tang blade and an extra thick micarta handle. i looked around on the net, but i couldn't find it anywhere else but at smkw. it is a solid blade knife with no extra compartments for stuff. i also was wondering if you could test the s&w homeland security short fixed blade.
thanks.

Hey, I thought i'd post some links for the rest of us that are too lazy to look things up (I was 2 pissed to go to bed, so I did the research)

The Shrade knife: http://www.knifesupplycompany.com/bt01.html

Find a video review of it here : http://video.aol.com/video-detail/coltello-schrade-extreme-survival-bowie-knife/3086660920 (in italian)

It looks.... OK i guess - I think the nail extractor (i think that's what it is?) on the pommel is hilarious!

Possibly more of a carpenter's knife than a "survival" blade?

thanks for the info, but the schrade is the wrong one. go to eknifeworks.com and punch catalog #schf3 and you will see it is a different knife. it has a black coated stainless steel blade with thick micarta handles. it has a lanyard and is 12 inches overall. the sheath does have pockets and multiple carry options. if you have a smkw catalog it is on page 5 and it retails for $49.99.
thanks

This one I assume.

It's a copy of the CRK Green Beret knife. Based on that alone, the handle is going to be extremely uncomfortable.

Noss said that he will be testing the other Schrade CRK copy at some point.

I've been in contact with M. Taylor and he is sending me some knives for evaluation as well. The Taylors are the ones that bought out the license to use the Schrade name among others. He seems like a nice person and eager for people to evaluate their knives. I'll post some pictures when I get them in.
