I've received the following for evaluation.

SS1GCP 3" Green Leaf Pattern - CHINA

SWMP1B S&W M&P1 - TAIWAN

SCST3 Sch stag handle fixed blade - CHINA

SPECLS S&W spec op mag tanto - TAIWAN

SHD2ELST Sch elk stag - CHINA

153UH 9.25" Golden spike w/leather - CHINA

160OT Sch Mountain Lion - CHINA

and

Giant 940T Trapper - CHINA

Giant 340T Stockman - CHINA

I will post images later. At first glance even the CHINA 440 steel looks no different than the old Schrade USA knives. Overall construction and quality looks no different as well. S&W knives also appear to be of quality as well.

Much thanks to Morgan Taylor for sending these out for evaluation even after he found out I was a member here:thumb:. Much more than I expected.

While viewing the above video on youtube I noticed in the related videos listing a video by Morgan Taylor discussing the difference between their assisted opening and automatic knives. He presents some interesting and informative information.

Note: Please be aware of knife laws pertaining to switch blade type knives in your jurisdiction. Most switch blade type knife laws date back to such entertainment as West Side Story and Rebel Without A Cause just to name a few. These laws are still on the books and taken seriously by law enforcement for whatever reason.

Below is video and some images of the S&W Military & Police SWMP1B assisted opening knife. This knife has the same dual patented assisted opening action as the rest of the MAGIC assisted opening knives. To see a test of the MAGIC opening mechanism please refer to my review of the Smith & Wesson Special Ops knife. (http://www.myculpeper.com/knifetests/SPECLS/SPECLS.htm) Its performance is going to be no different than the rest of the MAGIC line for Schrade and S&W.

These MAGIC series A/O knives I've been showing all have 4034 stainless steel blades. The equivalent of 4034 is Buck and Case "420HC", which is a tradename grade. The performance of 4034 should be no different than "420HC". The videos are a before and after stropping of the edge. The edge from the factory is fair and I lightly stropped the edge using a 10" cardboard stropping wheel with a couple of passes. The "before" video is slicing through copy-paper and the "after" video is slicing through newspaper. Again, this knife is inexpensive usually priced about $30 online.

Specs:

Model # SWMP1B

Blade Length: 3" drop point
