The problem with this is that the statistics don't count individual viewers. 1,006,379 of those views are from Mike Stewart. The other 138 are from the rest of us.

Well I don't see how anyone can hate your site. I think you are doing a great thing and it has given me more confidence in some of the knives I own, and less confidence in others. I thank you for taking the time to do this and wish you had been around years ago when I did "knife test" searches and got the same boring hits time and again trying to read my physics book and look at the computer screen at the same time.

A knife is a tool that cannot fail when you need it the most, keeping it in a safe and using it to cut sheets of paper will not test its limits. However, beating the bejeezus out of it on concrete will give you a darn good idea.

Koa: Welcome to the forum. Yeah plenty of people hate it but o-well. I don't think it really matters what many testers do. There are always going to be haters if their stuff makes the rounds. Also when results come up different then popular belief in a particular brand be it D-testing, edge retention testing or other they will hate you for it.

Truth is a beautiful thing unless its revelation comes too late to be of use. Some take offense at the moment of truth when a knife fails earlier than expected in one of Noss's D-tests, but how much better is it to know those limitations before you find yourself relying on a blade when your life may depend on it? For most, witnessing a knife go much farther in one of Noss's D-tests, taking much more than you would ever think possible, is a beautiful thing. It's not about the pieces left lying on the 2x4 during Noss's verdict at the end of the video. It's about all the knives out there whose souls have been tried and their character revealed for us to see--leaving us with a piece of truth we can know and use with confidence in our daily lives about every knife whose like has been tested relentlessly to that moment of truth.

Is that a... why I think it is, I have a tear in my eye will york. That may be the most eloquent essay on the philosophy of knife testing I have ever had the pleasure of reading. Well done. Anyone who thinks Noss is wrong for doing what he does is a coward plain and simple. A knife is a tool, a thing. It is meant to be tested and used for the benefit of the owner. Sure there are knives that we keep on display and never so much as use to slice a tomato but to be honored like that you must first prove that you truly DESERVE to be honored.

Don't get me wrong here, I'm not just a Noss groupie or anything. But I stand behind his method 100% because after all, anyone who disagrees can make their own knife testing site right? I keep searching but don't seem to find anyone else willing to dedicate the time and effort to keeping the rest of us informed.

I believe in the sharing of unbiased information within our community. These principles are so important to me and a friend of mine that we developed our own website where knowledge can be shared without commercial bias and the influence of "gurus". This is about passion, the passion to do what you love and learn everything you can about a particular subject. Anyone that stands in the way of that knowledge is in my opinion a criminal.

Sincerely,
Koa

Welcome Joshua J! They sure are valuable tests Noss does. I wish every knife had to go through this kind of testing before it is released to the public.
