Thought I would put some pic's up of my SR Chopweiler. Here she is.

In-hand this knife is superb. As comfortable as my S6, well yes, but in a different way. Those who own both would understand.
It has a great designed handle, for what is was intended for. Big thumbs up :thumb:
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b80/Tez308/Chopweiler-3.jpg

Spec Ops sheath. This one has the front pouch, which will work great for my SMF. These two will accompany me on our next trip. What a two knife combo for my game.

Started the christening with this stick. The Chopweiler did it's thing!

The CW is with doubt a master batoner!

Digging some holes/tip test. There is no way this tip will ever snap. I gave it plenty & then some. Here are just two smaller examples of the mess the CW leaves. This knife rocks man

Ad's letting off a bit of steam. He's champing at the bit for his SOD. Going to be one hell of a chop, stab & baton fest in 6 weeks ;)
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b80/Tez308/Chopweiler-13.jpg

He just cannot get enough of it. He just said. "Please sir where is my SOD". ha ha ha the boy knows great knives. It'll be his third SY, & I dare say not his last

Should of bought a CW months ago.

Great day. Father & son giving the CW some light abuse. Tomorrow is going to be another fine blue sunny day. Which should see the Scrapper 6, Dumpster Mutt & Yard Keeper LE coming to play. Pic's to come soon :D

Thanks guys :thumb:

Yesterday we started the morning with a coffee, well I did anyway ;) . Grabbed the S6, DMDC & YKLE. What's the point in having a S6 & DM when we haven't used them properly yet.
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b80/Tez308/Chopweiler-21.jpg

We started it off with some tip work/strength test on some 4x2" pine. The S6 & DM are better than the YKLE for this, but the LE is no slouch here either.
Ad's prefers the DM & I'm real sweet on my S6(Sometimes I think the DM is a mini version of the S6. Same style & look, only miniaturized. Great knife!)
But that works in our favor(different hand sizes) as my hands feel custom fitted to the S6. The DM is not too bad, although I do find it a wee bit small in the handle department for "survival purposes", when comparing the two side by side.
The YKLE has the same size handle as the DMDC, but as I usually use the LE as a skinner(I hold this knife differently) rather than a survival. So it works.
Basically what I'm trying to say is. The Scrapper 6 is king for me in this department, & many others as well! More about that later.
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b80/Tez308/Chopweiler-22.jpg

Next saw us take all three onto some hardwood. I did not baby any knife, I went for it! If any where going to show tip weakness, it would of happened here.
The DM was superb here, the YKLE was good & the S6 was again king(for my hand. Ad's preferred the DM). The S6 just rips into it. IMO Scrap Yard Co made these two knives perfect, in tip & blade thickness department for survival users. Just pick a size that fits, & off you go into the bush :thumb:
I will also say, I'm really glad I invested in two(soon to be 3, SOD coming soon) of these knives for my son. As I have complete confidence these Scrap Yards will never snap or fail my son thought out his life time!

Next up was hardwood(gum), no soft wood here. I dug right through. Starting on one side, reversing, then onto the other side. That S6, WOW.
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b80/Tez308/Chopweiler-25.jpg

The boy doing some digs. Man, these two days have been allot of fun
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b80/Tez308/Chopweiler-24.jpg

http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b80/Tez308/Chopweiler-23.jpg

Some batoning. Again, the S6 was outstanding, as was the DM. The YKLE worked great also.
Ad's & his DM
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b80/Tez308/Chopweiler-26.jpg

Decided we needed to pull out the CW out, as we started comparing the 4 knives.
As you would expect, the CW was indeed great, but the S6 does get the job done also.
The LE is no chopper, but will get one out of the pinch if needed. The DM was OK, again, this would work fine if needed.
I know these three shouldn't be compared to the CW in chopping, but I wanted to see for own sakes. Plus I am a firm believer in only taking two, max three knives when I head bush. And if where to head deep bush(backpacking, living out of a bivy, eating SFA), I would only take 1 survival with one small skinner. And I would not even consider going into these areas with anything other than a Bussikin family FIXED, but that's me. So my Scrapper 6 & the SMF.

50 chops for each knife.
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b80/Tez308/Chopweiler-28.jpg

End of the day, we had some wood chopped, sliced & carved. Sweet :D
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b80/Tez308/Chopweiler-29.jpg

I was really surprised when comparing the edge of my Swamp Rat to the three Scrap Yard knives. I thought the SR would of held it's edge better & be stronger. I was wrong.

When I first received Yard Keeper LE. Took it bush, used & abused it. Which did leave it with some minor edge damage. Just as another forum member found with his YKLE. But when I re-profiled the edge, all gelled. It's a warrior now!
I even thought that SR-77 didn't hold it's edge that long, on my first tests. Again, this was with the factory edge. I was wrong here. SR-77 holds an edge & holds it well. I'm impressed.
After all the work shown here, our four knives could cape/bone-out a deer no problem. Which means allot to me. It's what I need & what I do at times. Especially when backpacking throughout the hills.

The CW shows no difference in edge wear. All had very slight marks here & there. But we are talking so small that one can only see these under certain light angles. All knives passed the edge retention & wear with flying colors.
I will also say, if I could only pick one knife here. It would be the Scrapper 6. It's king for me for a survival fixed blade.

I will add more later :)

Yeah that. Thanks Shaolin, I completely forgot about his question :thumb:

Great steel man. I will tell you if it holds an edge better than SR-77. ATM it's hard to judge, & I probably should of stated this before i made the comment that SR-77 & SR-101 has the same edge retention.
I have only used the CW twice, I used the others at least 4 times doing other chores, chopping, dicing etc. So I will let you all know the outcome after a few more tests.

I just checked out the edge of my CW, man this thing is still razor & popping hairs. So it might be a wee bit better in edge retention. Will keep you posted :D

awseome pics thanks for shareing which one did the best

Well as a camp knife, I would say the Chopweiler is the best. But as a survival, with less weight & size, the Scrapper 6 gets the nod ATM. But if one needs a survival minus the weight & size on hip. I would say the Dumpster mutt is all that is really required. So it's all about what one wants/needs, & what floats your boat :)

For me & my everyday hunting trips. I usually just carry my Strider MFS & SnG ATM. Right now it'll be my SMF over my SnG, as it's new & unused  .

To get off the subject for a wee bit.
I have complete confidence it my MFS if things get hectic. I'm sure that little brute could chop, slice & cut down small trees for a emergency shelter if needed. And as much as I love the Strider knives, especially their frame-lock folders. I usually just take my LE as well, just gives me another option I guess. That little brute can skin game out, baton wood & I know I can treat that knife like crap, & it'll just come back for more.

When I head bush with my backpack, & I know I might have to live off the land, if things turn to poo. Which is not too often. I always will take at least one Bussikin family knife. My sons too young to come on these trips. And when he does tag along along on the two dayers, he always has his two Scrap Yards on him(Two will turn to one soon, as I plan on getting him a Strider PT. More about that later). So I can take what I want, he has backup just in case. Although I'm sure it wont be needed. But I'm not a gambling man, I play the percentages ;)

Fixed blades high on the hip just doesn't work for us. The Spec Ops's low hang design is allot better here IMO. For one, we hunt in the high country, which does see us falling/sliding down hills on the occasion. Every fixed blade we have used, on my & Ad's hip, just does not work. And one of the reasons why I now carry a folder these days. But I will also say, I will be trying out this new Spec Op's sheath with both my Scrapper 6 & Chopweiler. Just to see if it gels. Plus I really like how I can pack my Strider folder in the front pouch.
And I have another option, in my little Busse Game Warden. ATM Rainwalker(sheath maker/designer. Cool bloke, check him out lads if you're in the need for a quality kydex or leather sheath. His prices$ are reasonable as well) is making me a slightly modded leather design he was using.
My design will hang a little lower(plus it's small which makes it far less cumbersome) with also a minor mod on the strap. Just for security under falls.
I also picked up this little fat boy as it's small & an extremely tough steel. With working on animals it's number one game, one could use it if required. Which is peace of mind when miles away for anyone.
The two main things that will kill a man lost out in the Vic bush is. NO WATER & the COLD. I wont get into this too much, just briefly. But a great knife goes a long way to reaching these two musts.

So to answer your question, & for me not to go on too much of a tangent(I think I have already  ). Either a Bussinkin family knife, & I will also say, I would have complete confidence in a Strider. I know some here wouldn't agree. Which is cool, each too their own. But I do believe in the Strider system. But saying that, I will always pack a Bussikin family knife just in case ;) . Life is too short, I'm a realist & I like options :D

I do also have complete confidence in my Strider folders, but these knives have their place for me. Two main roles being. Capping, skinning, boning-out deer & my number 1 hip/stalking knife ATM.
If for some strange reaon I lost my FB's whilst out, I know I can use my SMF or SnG to get out of trouble. Plain & simple these folders are tanks man. Although not quiet a brutish as those RAO's. It'll work fine & no doubt get the job done.

PS-Those RAO's are must have as well. It's on my list Noss ;)

The Chopweiler does handle well my friend doesent it? It is a bit heavy for the blade size, but it is a Busse sibling and its strength lays within. I would like to see a little less weight in the handle. To me the handle is a bit overdone for the blade size. If we were talking a 9.5" blade I think it would be perfect.

Anyways, thanks for sharing the great pictures. And happy hunting :thumb:

I doubt it mate. Unless Swamp Rat PAY ALL my shipping costs back(sending the knife back, from Australia. Which I think is pointless, it's fuked) & forth with a new CW. Or if they refund my money$$$. Then I'll be happy. But we'll see just how well Swamp Rat deals with & treats their customers.

Will do mate :thumb: . This will be very interesting indeed. You wanna read all the info regarding SR101, SR-77 & INFI after I posted this on a few forums. WOW the truth comes out. All I will say is, SR-77 & INFI are outstanding steels, especially SR-77 for the $$$. INFI is no doubt the KING. And no doubt SR101 is quality gear also!
I'm learning ever day, man, this tip breakage has stirred up a few men. I still don't know why, maybe they have invested heavily in SR knives & this is all too much for them. Not sure. But just checkout the other main forums I'm on & see how it pans out.

All I know is, I'm not stressing about this any longer. If SR replace it & pay$$$ all shipping cost from & to Australia. All good & fine. If not, well, so be it. At the end of the day I have some great knives amongst my small collection. My Scrap Yards & Busse's will see me out then some. So it's in the hands of SR guys now. Whatever, I'm not fussed wither way any longer. I'm just glad it didn't happen happen whilst out bush(we depend on our knives), whilst with my son.
It happened in our backyard on a fine sunny day with my family all in the backyard taking in the fine day. Man, you wanna see the look on my sons face when it snapped(he was right there watching everything):eek::eek: ha ha ha it was priceless. My son said, "geez dad I'm glad I ordered a SOD" ha ha ha. And with me being me, I laughed out load. "So do I son so do I" ;)

Not much effort at all. But maybe I don't know my own strength  . But saying that. I tortured my Scrap Yard Yard Keeper LE. popping the hip joint as well as the jaw off a deer. And that's not easy feat. I gave that knife hell & it came back for more, then some. That LE is a great design with superb steel in SR-77!

O boy the trolls are coming out on blade forums. You said it like it was. If you have to keep the knife you will use it in future tests performing other tasks besides tip work and people will ask about what happened to the tip every time you post something about it.

I can't even count how many times I have been asked about the broken tip on the Ka-Bar
heavy bowie D-test. It was the first knife D-tested and I broke the tip off camera before hand.

Sorry it didn't work out. :( At least you can still use the blade for other things. Since you aren't getting another you could grind down broken area and make a chisel point on it or something.

That's what I will eventually do mate, regrind the tip. Now that will be one stout tip :D . But for the time being, I will just kept it as is. And do what I do. A few tests here & there with ALL my knives :thumb:

I don't look forward to the response from certain men on a certain forum, but that's life I guess. I will just go about & test which knives I grab that day, or take out bush with me.
But I can only imagine how this will piss certain men off seeing that CW with it's snapped tip. I will say look away if it distresses you that much.
It doesn't bother me, so why does it bother others. Well I know why, it's the first(so I have been told) of this proportion that it's tip snapped under normal use. And because I wont comply with the warranty, unless I'm not out of pocket one cent. Well, this enrages many.
What is all the fuss about in the first place. The knife still functions & works great, & IMHO I don't think it will ever give me another minutes trouble, especially when I regind the tip, unless it is the HT(that's the theory ATM) , but I doubt it we'll ever know?
