Snugpak softie elite 2 sleeping bag

Does anyone own one of these or any SNUGPAK sleeping bag ? I need a new one and they look nice for the price.

I have a Merlin 3.
Good bags, no cold spots at all.
They are lite and pack up small(although getting the in the stuff sack can be tough).
They are like being in the womb.
Typical of mummy bags though, there isn't much wiggle room on the inside(doesn't bother me).
My only gripes are that the reinforced material at the foot isn't all that comfortable if you are barefoot, and that the zipper can be alittle tough.
Great bags though, have taken the Merlin on many trips.
I highly recomend.

Snug packs are nice but take a look at the Mountain Hardware Ultra Lamina bags. They are probably the best bags on the market right now. They also pack down real small.

I bought myself a Kifaru Regulator Slick 20 deg Sleeping bag for an xmas present, as an upgrade from my 32F Snugpak Softie 6, and wanted to post my preliminary review.

Most of the Kifaru sleeping bag is more roomy than my Snugpak softie 6 (kestral), and the insulation seems to be less thick. The Kifaru hood is more contured and has a draft collar(the Snugpak does not), which results in better heat retention. The Kifaru's insulation on the bottom part of the bag is about half of the insulation which is on the top part of the bag. The 20F Kifaru Slickbag's posted weight is 2.0 lbs, while my 32F Snugpak softie 6 posted weight is 2.6 lbs and a comparable 23F Snugpak Softie 9 (Hawk) weights 3.3 lbs. I can post actual weight later on the Kifaru and Snugpak Softie 6.

I haven't slept a full night in it yet (outside), however I have tentatively tested it out in my back yard. My intention was to test if for a little while and go back inside, however I fell asleep.

I tested it from about 1am-3am in in Northern Virginia. The temperature was about 25F when I started and about 20F when I finished. The Thermometer used was a cheap REI keychain. I do not know what or if there was a wind chill. My backyard is fenced.

I used a Thermarest Prolite Plus sleeping mat and had a USGI bivy which I kept open. The bivy was just there in case bad weather happened. This was outside on my back yard concrete patio, no tent was used. I wore a set of Terramar Silk-Wool Baselayer top and bottoms, and a polar fleece watch cap.

Initially, I warmed up quickly, and was on the verge of being too hot (almost starting to sweat). This was after being chilled from going from my warm 70F house to the backyard at 25F. I find that the Kifaru sleeping bag warms up fast. I accidentally fell asleep and slept from 1am to about 3am. When I woke up I was no longer toasty warm or hot. I wasn't cold or chilled either, however. At this point I decided to go back inside and be toasty warm in my bed.

I noticed that the outside of the Kifaru Sleeping back was very cold to the touch, and almost felt wet (though it wasn't). I also found that there was a thin layer of ice in my Nalgene bottle that I had brought out with me.

I intend to repeat this test at similar or colder temperatures using a zipped up Bivy and a Thermolite liner in the future.

I find that I like the Kifaru 20F back a lot better than the Snugpak Softie 6. Last winter I froze my ass off using the Softie 6, though its only rated for 32F. The Kifaru is very well constructed and the zipper hasn't snagged yet. The whole thing seems to be comparatively bombproof. With the Snugpak, it seems that i was always snagging it.

Finely I bought Snugpak, sleeper zero squere foot.
Our robust Sleeper range of bags are an ideal introduction to Snugpak's high performance sleeping bags with many similar design features. Filled with a "siliconized hollowfiber." These synthetic fibers are structured to trap warm air between tiny cavities in the fiber. When unpacked the hollow fibers decompress and spread back to gain maximum re-loft. Ripstop nylon outer with supersoft as the inner lining, a silky smooth nylon fabric. All sleepers come with a compression stuff sack, Snugfit hood, zip baffle, hanging dry tabs, and anti-snag two way zip. Square foot folds out to form a blanket.
I have no adea how to Review this think but so far not bad for 60 box!
I buy it with context that will be used inside a tent or with the given time inside a well made shelter!
Configuration between Rectangular on the bottom and an Egg on the top!

I don't know "anything" about gay men but I checked the wholesale price for the SnugPak 3 Merlin, its $145! and $310 full retail.

Did you ever get a new sleeping bag.

I found a Swiss Army sleeping bag at SAMS Club for $20. It seems alright but I don't like winter camping so I only use it down to about 40 degrees.
