Yeah we will see if it fails like the Ka-bar USMC and the Smith & Wesson did they both broke at this location not to far into the tests.

Is that the knife the US Military chose over the LMF II?

Izan: No.. It's the older original one. I don't have my camera at the moment.

Here is a link to it.

i was issued one in the USAF. The one I had was horrible. At least at the time I thought it was. It needs to be D-tested so I can sleep at night...

Actually, some people that own and use one seem to like it. Especially the sheath and knife combo. I've compared the Air Force knife with several brands looking for anything similar and there isn't much out there. This knife was in production for the military longer than most. I'm looking forward to this test very much.

alot of folks like em and i am sure it served its purpuse as an egress knife for aircrews, but i never much liked em myself. the edges are too thick, the handles are kinda short and the tang and possibly the point seem weak(?)....guess we will see.

I didn't like it because I could never get it sharp enough but I was only using the stone it came with. It did a good job of puncturing a hole in a C-rat so it can be heated up without exploding. We opened the cans with an opener worn on our dog tags. I also used one (the knife) during winter survival school. Hardly ever wore it. Left it in the jeep trailer most of the time.

OK, thanks for the link, Noss. My thoughts just by looking at it, makes me think it will have problems on the mallet-through-wood test. Serrations will be mangled, I don't know if it will break, but it will never make it though the body weight test.

If I am wrong, I will have to pick one up!:D:D

the gerber lmf that Noss tested seemed like a much better knife than the ontario pilot knife, costs more and heavier too i think, but at least it comes with a usable factory edge on it (still knida thick though).

I've seen this air force knife online for $29.

If it gets to the body weight part I will be surprised. If it does get to the body weight test (pass or fail) I'm buying one....:)

Well I enjoy the testing Noss does, he better just pray to whatever god he can that it does not surpass the CRK's in the destruction test time line!

Finished Noss' signoff at 5:30 this morning...should I ruin the surprise, Noss? :D I will say this--this test was fun to watch. I tried to keep my commentary to a minimum...but it was sooooo difficult :D. Give Noss a few days to get it edited and posted. I know that I, for one, will be waiting eagerly to see this one.
