So Mr. RichardJ...

As you know I'm still waiting on my belts to arrive for my new sander.

However, I was given a free 600 grit belt by my local knife shop for my little 1x30 belt sander and got brave last night. I also setup the paper wheel I had and did some work on a Mora for practice, then moved onto my Outcast and Mora.

Good news - I didnt butcher anything too bad.

Bad news - I still could use a hands on lesson, because its just as tricky as I thought it was.

The folder came out with a "kinda ok looking" grind on it, but on a positive note, it is really damn sharp now, and it is ATS-34 from Kershaw, super damn hard to reprofile by hand, trust me, I tried and gave up...the belt sander made it a breeze! Im in business.

Figured I would drop you an update. Still need to come up for a lesson in person.

just let me know a few days ahead of time when you are coming up. chuck geyer stopped over today and i put a quick edge on is scrap yard mud puppy le that he bought. its not a bad knife and took a good edge. its ats 34. a 1" wide sander is ok for small knives but for longer blades its possible to get waves in the blade that will take some skill and time to get out.

I still need to set up my belt sander. I keep going out shooting on the weekends. And its winter. I know, excuses excuses excuses. I need a rainy day. Only it never rains here. At least not for a long while.
