So I've started working with steel 4 or 5 moths ago and this is my first destruction test of my latest blade to find out what were my mistakes forging blade. Blade doesn't look fancy because it was made for testing only!

It was my mistake not wearing them, nex time I will.
Shtyra: Welcome to the forum. Interesting videos. I have never tested any pattern welded steel. So I'm not sure how it's supposed to react. What were your conclusions from the tests ?

Even if blade has crack it doesn't brake easily-that's the main diference I noticed, btw when I was bending blade to left and right you can hear when steel layers brake one after other, it is not so clear sound on youtube video, but on my camera it is very clear sound when I watched reply. And that part where I hit blade to other blade with hamer, you can see how diferently they chiped, that's very big plus for patter welded steel I think. Also flexibility is very good. Since it was my firs test I can't say more, but I'll try soon to make better blade for testing and then we will see.
Interesting stuff. It looks like the steel was on the soft side from the results. What do you say the RC of the layers are ?

I used very low quality steel so it was prety much soft even after heat treatment, next time I'll try to add better steel. These destruction test realy helps to know what's wrong with knife.
Sorry but I don't know what RC means...
The hardness of the steel. Many knives sold are around the 56-58 range but can vary between 50 to 65 or so.

Oh rockwell hardness. I usualy see it as HRC not RC. But sorry I don't know hardness of this, beacause I don't have that machine to mesure hardness. BTW that folder blade had 440 steel by M-tech, usualy 440 (probably A) has hrc ~55-57, which means my blade was softer that 55 hrc.

Depending on the metals used, pattern welded blades will have varying hardnesses in different areas won't they?

Yes. BTW this video doesn't say much about real pattern welded steel, beacause I made a lot mistakes forging this blade. Tomorow I'm making new and better blade. It may take 4 days until new test video is complete.
