Good test. Can you tell us some more about the different steels involved.

A video explaining basic patterned steel.

I started with 5 layers (2 mild steel, 1 medium quality stainless steel and 2 very good quality old russian steel from saw) but I don't know exact % of carbon and others, then folded them 5 times to 160 layers (5x2x2x2x2x2=160) BTW I have only 5 months ecperience so don't think that every pattern welded steel is like that, every bladsmith makes it diferently and most of them are way better than this one in video.

Oh, I didn't realize you made the blade yourself. Cool!:thumb:

Good test. Looks like this one held up better. I've never tried to hammer two blades together. I may give it a try with a few blades.

i think you need a better heat treatment for your steel

either that or keep the steel in the coals longer when you forge it

I was just wondering when is Noss going to destroy some damascus, because I've never seen such an exotical thing in a destruction test. Now, I've just saw it! Thank you!
It performed much different than I was expecting. I thought it would break layer by layer (as the fallkniven A1) in lateral stress, but it seems more compact and flexible.
