Just received my MFS two weeks back. Sweet knife in-hand man, feels great.

I also have a Yard Keeper CG, LE & RAT RC-4 coming soon so I will run these four boys directly with each other in balance, feel, comfort & my general thoughts.
It will be an interesting outcome as I will be looking at what works in hand in the three main positions I use, as I would do skinning/boning-out a deer on the deck.

Nice looking Strider. The Strider S30v held up well in the test. It's still one of my favorite concrete killers.:cool:

I look forward to the results.

nice score!
it should go well with your other blades.

I'm going to be getting my first s30v knife (ranger shiv) soon.
I can't wait to see how long this stuff holds it's edge! :D

Wow nice blade! How much did that go for? Strider knives are expensive!

Did some cut & chop tests with my SMF. The first thing I will say is this steel HOLDS it's edge under pressure!
As you can see I butchered the whole deer(boned-out all legs, eye-fillets & back-straps) on the deck.
This is no easy feat on a blade as deer hair is hollow & very course, & it seems to take the edge off a blade real quick!

Knife was comfortable in hand in the two main positions I hold my knives, & the blood soaked cord-wrap handle worked a-treat.
And after all this, it was still popping hairs. What more can one ask.

WHAT I LIKED =
1) Deep cut jimping worked great with my index finger, 100% controlled cuts.
2) S30v steel held it's edge 100%.
3) Cord-wrap handle worked great with blood soaked hands. The shape of handle working well in my big hands, working in close. As needed whilst boning a deer out on the deck/ground.
4) Perfect blade length for boning/skinning IMO.

The only improvement I would make on this knife is. Making the steel thicker where my thumb sits whilst holding the knife in the "drop cut" position. But saying that, it isn't bad & it doesn't slip off. Just what I would want in a dedicated boner/skinner if I were to design one.
But saying that. I only use that hand position a few times during the whole process, so it's not really an issue.

I guess one must look at this knife as a multi-purpose tool, as it is designed for many users. So all in all I give this knife the thumbs up.
Go & buy one, you wont be disappointed!

PS-By the way. I did some stabbing tests through the ribs. Blade punched straight through two ribs at a time, breaking them cleanly. Zero damage to blade.

Nice job 338. Fantastic pics. What did you drop the deer with? (or is that a stupid question .338 lol) Have you taken the wrap off to see if there is any residue underneath? If you do any chance of a pic?

I'm liking the MFS more and more.

338 Winchester Magnum bud.

Nah haven't taken the wrap off, too much blood & flesh in there ;) . Seriously, I don't think it's needed. All I do is wash the whole knife under hot tap water, shake it a few times then sit it in front of the fire for a few hours. She'll come up like a newby :D

he he he yup I guess I'm just a cold hearted bastard ;) . These young ones taste soooo good in pie & pasta sauce it's a crime not taking one every now & then.

Next test(hopefully a stag I have my eye on) will be with my Scrap Yard Yard Keeper LE & Scrapper 6. Basically the same deal but on a much bigger critter. Will also test out my new Spyderco Dragonfly capping-out the finer details of the head.

Lynn Thompson.... Isnt that the owner of Cold Steel?

And are you not supposed to shoot deer? even if they run?

*sighs at hunting rituals*

Yes Lynn Thompson is the owner of Cold Steel. He is the one that can be seen in the Solid Proof Dvd's using his knives in all sorts of ways. And you got to love the swords blow gun and spears.

Im sure Lynn is quite proud of Noss. His knives have faired well here. Better than some other high end companys. I can see him watching the destruction test's saying give those bastards hell.

Truth is I'm a big fan of Lynn Thompson. I like Cold Steel knives. CS gets called names like Cold Steal. Sure some of their knives look like other makers. Then again how many makers have 'American' tanto blades. Where did they rip that off from? Truth is there is very little that is original in blades. They have been around for thousands of years and unless its one of those Kit Rae or Gil Hibben fantasy designs, the blade more than likely resembles another.

What I like about Thompson is that his company makes knives for using. He practices a number of fighting arts and some the blades reflect this influence. He doesn't care if people don't like him. He knew he would be hated when he brought out the truth about the guys who own Strider knives. When he was called on that by stories of how he was a liar about it etc and that these guys were the real deal he took it to court and had the pretenders be legally bound to stop telling lies about their non existant heroic past. The guy has balls. Good on him. I do wish he would stop wearing shorts in those videos!!!!!
