Of all the firesteels I have tried, I prefer these. Why? Scrape one with a blade and you have tons of hot sparks! ( approx 5000 degrees) If you can find, or make, some tinder these will start a fire. The plus is 1. The price, 2. They come in several sizes.
My belief is you should never get caught without a knife , and a firesteel.
