I am not a big fan of small knives, but bought one of these to have. It makes you wish it could perform in the woods, but a 5" blade is too small. But anyway I was in the bush today building a fire. The knife batons well, splits wood well, but the file /sawback will tear your baton up, and your hand when using as a draw knife. (good for notching though) My cons are the knife is too small and to hard to sharpen.
Later I was drilling out a piece of hardwood when I decided to test the tip strength. I stabbed it into the hardwood several times , and pryed huge chunks out. Now I decide to drive the tip into the wood about 2" and pry it. Well the wood gave way, the tip didnt break, but it bent 2" of the tip about 20 degrees. I think i would have rather it broke!
Batoned it back in wood and re straightend blade, then stabbed it through some old tin about 6 times, stabbed it through an old cinder block, and chopped through it, then batoned it through a 4 by 4.
Tip didnt break, filed the dents from block out and reshrpened, and it is good as new.
Pretty tough knife! But the tip is weak, and I am sure it is weaker now. Overall would make a good utility knife, not a seal knife. Of course thats my opinion.
