I had gotten a good deal on a Gerber LMF and I had always liked the way it handled... but I had thought it wouldn't compare to more expensive makers blades... well the destruction test results give me a lot of respect for this design.

Any other Gerber LMF II owners out there that were surprised by how well it stood up?

I do not own the LMF, but I was surprised at how well it handled the test. The knives Gerber has been making lately don't seem to be as good as they used to be. The LMF looks like it's reversing that trend. The best Gerber I ever owned was a Mark II, but that was not at all what I would call "hard use". Not that it matters because it wasn't designed for that, but it still didn't feel very solid.

I almost bought one after seeing how well it did in Noss's D test, but after handling one, thought it was a little too heavy/over built for my needs, tho' it did seem to be well made and had a comfortable handle. Still might get one or maybe the lighter prodigy version.

hassiman: Welcome to the forum. The LMFII does everything it's advertised to do. Gerber get's a lot of flack but the LMFII is a quality blade.

"SFC Dillard Johnson's Gerber LMF II ASEK, used to sever a 220 volt line in combat in Iraq. Arrows point to damage done by the current. The electrically insulated handle maybe saved SFC Johnson's life, and cutting the lines potentially saved the lives of all of his patrol."
