I am thinking the axe will get me fire wood easier than chopping with the Cold Steel Kukri; although chopping is fun : )
I am getting ready for another camping trip. . .
I will take the Cold Steel Trail Boss to camp and the Wetterlings I plan to take when hiking more of the Appalachian Trail later this fall and bicycle riding the C&O Canal if I can get to do it all this year. I carry a Timbuk2 messenger bag while riding the bicycle and the Wetterlings axe will fit in it nicely.

No doubt. That's a very versatile setup. I look forward to seeing how the CS axe holds up and how it compares to the Wetterlings.

The Cold Steel Trail Boss has a different blade profile and out of the box I cannot get it as sharp as the Wetterlings using a ceramic rod; although it may be sharp enough for chopping wood as designed.
The Wetterlings easily gets as sharp as any large knife and will shave.
I am pretty sure I could use the belt sander to get the Trail Boss sharper but I do not want to change the design without being absolutely sure of that I wouldn't ruin the intended design ; )
I want to try some Cold Steel Tomahawks also, I have the Vietnam and Rifleman Hawks and will get the smaller blade Trail Hawk soon.
I need to buy a home on a wooded lot to use all this crap ; ) Maybe I could hire myself out for over grown lot clearing services ; )
I have a cs trail hawk. I haven't go to go out in the woods with it yet but it makes quick work of 2x4's :D

Good news. I got the Cold Steel Trail Hawk on the way and a camping trip planned for the weekend. If it all comes together I plan to take the CS Trail Boss and CS Trail Hawk for some fire wood duty. Also I'll take the Cold Steel SAX machete along. I take some photos of boring fire wood and knives, axes, machetes and such and post later ; )
Cool. let me know how it does. I like the fact that it's fairly light weight and the handle is long enough for two handed chops. Mine came dull. I spent some time putting an edge on it. It had no edge what so ever.

Same experience here with Cold Steel axes and Tomahawks (5) they are all only moderately sharp unlike the Wetterlings which both came shaving sharp.
I am not sure enough to determine if steel is harder or the profile is wrong (maybe both) on the Cold Steel axe but it doesn't get as sharp as the Wetterlings with the same effort by hand on a ceramic rod or flat ceramic block sharpener.
Maybe a light touch on the belt sander would make all the difference as it did with the $3 ancient flea market hatchet as I was able to restore it to a very sharp usable condition and it chopped well before the head fell off ; )

I recently picked up a Bushman after I read this article:
"The Bushman could be the one tool you need to survive a bad situation. Use it is as a machete to clear brush and build structures or as a spear by taking off the end cap and inserting a makeshift handle. Unlike most hollow-handled survival knives, there is no joint between the blade and handle. Instead, the 7" blade and handle are cold forged out of a single piece of 2.5mm thick SK-5 high-carbon steel. Fill the accessory pocket with essential survival needs like matches and other small items".
I think I made the right choice.

I do not believe the Cold Steel Bushman will replace a Cold Steel machete; especially the Kukri machete but it is a tough dependable knife as proven in the Noss Knife Tests. I like it personally and it gets sharp and cuts well and since watching it perform in the tests I have confidence it'll last my camping trips forever.
