Richard J, ever sharpened a Fehrman?

Hi Richard,

New guy here.....I will shortly be ordering a Fehrman "Peace Maker".

It will have a 4" blade of CPM-3V steel with Fehrman's proprietery, 3-day heat-treat.....flat "V"grind and stropped on compound-coated leather strop at factory for getting the final edge.....it is said to easily shave hair and slice thin newspaper.

Have you ever sharpened a Fehrman? Have you ever seen / tested the edge of a new, unused Fehrman?

If so, do you believe a fully convex edge would benefit this knife any?

I appreciate any opinion you may have on this, Richard!

never had the chance to check one out as of yet. i sharpen a lot of knives and most guys have me put a convex edge on unless they want to stick with a v edge. i tend to like a convex edge myself since convex blades were all i started out making in the early 90's. noss has one of my knives with the half convex edge and he has yet to sharpen it after over a year of use. i would play with the knife to see how you like the v edge. you can always convex the edge later if you choose.
